Guidelines for preparation of manuscript for Technical Papers / Short Communications :

General :
    
Responsibility for the contents of the technical paper/ short communications rests upon the authors, not upon the Hon. Editor or the Publisher. Papers are accepted on the understanding that these have been submitted only to the Journal of IWWA (JIWWA) and to no other Journal. It is important that the author must not publish the manuscript, once accepted by the JIWWA, later in any other Journal. Selected portions of the published paper in the JIWWA may be reproduced, provided that a written approval has been received from the Publisher.

Covering letter :

Covering letter should state the contact author, title, communication address including, Telephone, Fax number and E-mail address.

Length :

Technical papers should not exceed 4000 words while short communications should be limited to 1000 words.

Title Page :

The title page should include title (restricted to maximum of 10 words), each author's name and affiliations, including present address.

Abstract :

Abstract should not exceed 75 words. Technical papers must accompany with an abstract. After publication, the title and the abstract of the paper shall be placed on web site of JIWWA. Abstracts are not required for short communications.

Body of the Text :

Body of the text should be typed in double spacing on good quality paper and on only one side. Recommended font is Times new roman with font size of 12 pts.

Contents of the Manuscript of the Technical Paper :

The contents should be as follows -

Numbering : All tables, figures and equations should be numbered with Arabic numerals.

bullet

Units : Authors must use S. I. units. Any alternative versions of units may be added in parentheses following the appropriate SI value.

References :

Reference in the main body of the text should be cited by the surname of the author (s) (not with initials) followed
by the year of publication e.g. "(Gopalan, 1995) that ...." or " According to Gopalan (1995)....". Where there are
more than one publication by the same author(s) in the same year, use notation "1995a", "1995b", etc. Up to two
authors can be mentioned in the text while citing a reference in the text. In the case of three or more authors, the
reference should be shortened to the first author's name followed by et al e.g. (Gopalan et al, 1995).

References should be listed at the end of the manuscript, arranged alphabetically by first author. When there are several references to the same author, these should be arranged chronologically. Only those references cited in the text should be listed. References not readily available to readers should be avoided, e.g., articles pending publication or personal communications.

References should be written as follows :

Textbooks/Manuals :

Bhave, P. R., Analysis of flow in water and distribution networks, Technomic publishing company Inc., Lancaster, USA, 1991.

Standard methods for the examination of water and wastewater, American Public Health Association, NW, DC 20036, 1994.

Illustrations :

All photographs, charts and diagrams (illustrations) should be clear and suitable for reduction to 30% original size. Original tracings are encouraged there should be drawn with quality Indian ink. Photocopies of figures are not accepted. If the figure is taken from the published source authors must provide accordingly on the list of figures.

All illustrations are to be referred to as Figure(s) and should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are referred. Illustrations should accompany the manuscript but should not be included in the manuscript pages.

Figure captions should be typed in the List of Figures.

Tables :

Tables should be numbered consecutively, and each table should be given a suitable heading. The table heading should be bold and center justified. Footnotes to tables should be typed below the table.

The information presented in tables should not duplicate information presented elsewhere, e.g. in the graphs. Authors are advised to use the feature available for inserting tables available in the software used for word processing (e.g. Microsoft Word)

Spelling and Grammar :

It is recommended that the authors take utmost care in checking the spellings and the grammar prior to sending the manuscript. The spelling and grammar should follow US convention/dictionary.

Submission of the Manuscript :

Authors can submit the manuscripts to Journal of IWWA by any of the following three ways. We encourage authors however to submit the manuscripts either electronically or through E-mail

i) Submission of hardcopy through surface mail :

Send three good copies of the hardcopy to the Editor Journal of IWWA, on the address listed below.

ii) Electronic Submission of Manuscripts via diskette :

For rapid processing and printing, authors are encouraged to submit a floppy disc (3.5in ) containing the manuscript of the paper to the Editor. The manuscript text should be in Microsoft Word (Version 6.0 or above) and Figures (Illustrations) should fully compatible to Lotus 1-2-3 or Microsoft Excel (Version 6.0 or above)

While sending electronic manuscript, please observe the following:

Floppy disk should accompany three hard copies of the paper.

Files on the diskette should be separate for text, tables and figures.

Please check for virus before sending using an updated version of a reputed anti virus program.

The diskettes submitted shall not be returned.

Authors should send the hardcopies (3 Nos.) of the manuscripts and the diskette on the following address :

iii) Submission of Manuscripts through E-mail :

Authors can also submit the manuscripts to the JIWWA, through E-mail for faster processing of the paper and printing. Manuscripts can be sent through E-mail as an attachment to the Editor on the E-mail iwwa@rediffmail.com Alternately, use the file upload feature available on the web site of the JIWWA at http://www.iwwa.info

While sending through E-mail please follow the following instructions.

Please mention the subject of E-mail as "Submission of manuscript to Journal of IWWA".

Please check for virus before sending using an updated version of a reputed anti virus program.

Send three hardcopies of the manuscript along with original illustrations to the Editor JIWWA

Referring :

The contact author shall receive a letter of acknowledgement from the office of the Hon. Editor assigning a reference code. This code is to be referred to for all further correspondence.

Each paper received will be assessed by the one/two referees who are familiar with the subject. A decision as to publication will be made by the Editorial board on the basis of recommendation of the referees. If the recommendations referees suggest certain editing/improvement then, the contact author will be notified accordingly. If the paper is found to be not acceptable, then the manuscripts and the illustrations sent will be returned to the contact author.

Off-prints :

The contact author will receive fifteen off-prints free of charge once the paper is published in the JIWWA.
