Rules And Regulations :

I - Constitution

1. The Indian Water Works Association has been registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 No.BOM.105/68-GBBSD on 30th August 1968.

2. The Regulations for the management of the Association, for the observance of members thereof and their representatives shall, subject to the exercise of the statutory powers of the Association herein contained in respect of additions, alterations, modifications and variations to these Regulations by special Resolutions, be such as are herein contained.

3. II - Interpretation :

In the interpretation of these Rules & Regulations the respective words and expressions following wherever used, shall have the meaning respectively assigned to them unless repugnant to the context or meaning thereof.

i)  The ‘Act’ shall mean the Societies Registrations Act XXI of 1860 or any Statutory modification thereof for the time being in force.

ii) The ‘Association’ shall mean and include ‘The Indian Water Works Association’ and be deemed to include any other name it might adopt, its assigns, substitutes and successors as well as any concern, whether limited or otherwise, with which it might amalgamate or to which it may transfer its property, whether voluntarily or by operation of law.

iii) ‘Alter’ & ‘Alteration’ shall mean and include the making of modifications, additions and/or omissions.

iv) Council means Council of Management

v) ‘Member’ shall mean a member of the Association including any person who is a Fellow, a Member, Hon. Member, Organisation Member, Associate Member or a Student Member as provided for in these Rules and Regulations and whose name is so entered in its Register of Members and who is not in arrears as prescribed in clause 16 of these rules.

vi) Financial Year shall mean the period from 1st April to 31st March of the next calendar year.

vii) 'Office' means the Registered office of the Association at Mumbai.

viii) "Proxy Form" shall mean an instrument whereby any other member is authorized, by 'a member to vote for him at any general meeting of the Association upon a poll. 
         a) 'Proxy' shall mean a member who is authorized to vote.

ix) These ‘Rules & Regulations’ or ‘these presents’ shall mean and be deemed to include the Memorandum of Association and the Rules & Regulations now and from time to time in force.

x) ‘Variation’ shall include ‘abrogation’ and ‘vary’ shall include ‘abrogate.’

xi) ‘Writing’ shall mean written or printed or partially printed and partially written or lithographed or cyclostyled or typewritten.

xii) Words including the singular number shall include, unless repugnant to the context, the plural number and vice versa.

xiii) Words imparting the masculine gender shall include the feminine gender.

xiv) a) A centre means a centre established for the purpose of furtherance of objectives of the Association anywhere in India or abroad by the Council of Management as per Rule 3(a)ii of Memorandum of Association.

       b) Working of the centre will be regulated as per the “Rules of management of centres as approved by the Council of management of IWWA from time to time.
