The Indian Water Works Association (IWWA), Indore Centre, observed World Environment Day at the Vishveshwaraiya Bhawan Hall, Indore. The theme speaker for the event was Dr. H. V. Tilwankar. The program was chaired by Er. Sudhir Saxena, Past President of IWWA and Retired Engineer-in-Chief. Er. K. K. Songaria, also a Past President and Retired Engineer-in-Chief, was the Guest of Honour, and Dr. R. K. Shrivastava was present as the Special Guest. As per the tradition of IWWA Indore Centre, all dignitaries on the dais were honored with coconuts. The welcome address was given by Chief Engineer Er. Sanjay Kumar Sir and Superintending Engineer Er. Monika Mandoli (Sapre). A brief introduction of the speaker was presented by Er. Vijay Charhate ji. Dr. Tilwankar delivered an in-depth talk on how plastic has become an inseparable part of our daily lives. He discussed the rules and advisories issued by the Government of India, highlighting the gaps and loopholes in their enforcement. He explained why restrictions are not being effectively implemented and what technological changes and upcoming innovations could help mitigate plastic pollution to some extent. Following his address, a lively question-and-answer session was held, during which members expressed satisfaction with the responses provided by the speaker. Dr. R. K. Shrivastava Sir emphasized the importance of public awareness and how we can cultivate sustainable habits, using the cleanliness of Indore city as a shining example of citizen participation. He stressed the point that change must begin with the individual. In his presidential address, Er. Sudhir Saxena Sahab drew comparisons with ancient times, reflecting on how our lifestyles have changed over the years in pursuit of comfort and convenience, often at the cost of traditional, eco-friendly habits. Mementos were presented to the guests by Er. Sanjeev Shrivastava and Er. Purvi Sharma. The vote of thanks was proposed by Er. N. M. Quraishi, Chairman of IWWA Indore Centre. A workshop on Rainwater Harvesting and its various methods was organized by the Indian Water Works Association (IWWA), Indore Centre. The key speaker for the event was the renowned engineer Er. Ulhas Paranjape Sir from Mumbai. The program began with a welcome address delivered by Er. R. K. Jain, Vice Chairman of IWWA Indore Centre. The dignitaries on the dais included: Dr. R. K. Shrivastava (Ex-Director, SGSITS) Dr. S. M. Narulkar (Head of Civil Engineering Dept., SGSITS) Er. V. S. Solanki Sir (Chief Engineer, PHED, Indore) Er. U. M. Paranjape Sir (Chief Speaker) The keynote speaker was honored with a coconut and a garland of flowers, and all other dignitaries on the dais were also felicitated with flower garlands. Er. M. K. Khare, Secretary, IWWA Indore Centre, introduced the speaker. Following this, Er. U. M. Paranjape Sir delivered an insightful presentation on rainwater harvesting, various methods, and practices adopted in different regions. He emphasized the importance of rainwater harvesting/collection and its use for daily needs, including drinking water, highlighting that rainwater is the purest form of water. After the presentation, several questions were raised by the audience, which were very well addressed and answered effectively by Er. Paranjape Sir. Around 60 field engineers attended the workshop, the majority of them from the Indore Municipal Corporation. Currently, rainwater harvesting is being implemented as a project in Indore city, where each ward has been assigned specific targets to achieve in collaboration with and consent of the residents. Dr. R. K. Shrivastava summarized the discussions and outcomes of the workshop. The event was conducted by Er. Komal Prasad, and a vote of thanks was delivered by Er. On 16th May, 2025, our Past President and Engineer-in-Chief, Er. K. K. Songaria Sahab, visited the IWWA Indore Centre office as well as the Chief Engineer's office in Indore. He discussed the IWWA membership drive and emphasized the need for dedicated work in each Engineer’s Department. He also mentioned that we are fortunate to have the opportunity to serve society. As it was his birthday today, the members present extended their wishes for his long and healthy life.
Celebration of World Earth Day – April 22, 2025 On April 22, 2025, the Indore Center, in collaboration with Holkar Science College (Autonomous Institute), organized a special event to commemorate World Earth Day (also known as International Mother Earth Day or Vasundhara Diwas). On this occasion, our life member Dr. Dilip Waghela (Chief Scientist, Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board) and renowned environmentalist Dr. O. P. Joshi (former Principal, Gujarati Science College) shared their insights on crucial topics such as deforestation, its impact on the water cycle, human health, environmental degradation, and pollution. They also emphasized how simple yet impactful efforts can help each of us contribute to protecting our planet. Dr. Sanjeeda Iqbal (Head, Department of Botany, Holkar Science College) highlighted the importance of youth involvement in such initiatives and stressed the need to engage them in creative and constructive environmental activities. The event was smoothly conducted by the students, who played a key role in hosting and managing the proceedings. The program concluded with all attendees taking an environmental pledge — committing to actions like planting trees, reducing the use of petrol/diesel vehicles, and promoting the use of public transportation. The event ended with a note of thanks.

A seminar/workshop on "DPR Preparation and Online Monitoring of the Water Supply System" was presented by Dr. K. K. Shrivastava in an excellent manner with the help of a PPT presentation. At the beginning, Chairman Er. N.M. Quraishi welcomed the speaker and all the participants. After that, all the attendees introduced themselves, with several new members present. Er. Komal Prasad requested the speaker to begin the presentation. Dr. K. K. Shrivastava delivered the presentation, covering even the minor details that need attention. He regularly engaged with the audience by asking questions and providing answers. Er. Komal Prasad encouraged the new members/participants to become life members of IWWA, explaining the benefits of membership. In response, most participants assured they would apply for membership as soon as possible. Participants appreciated the efforts being made by the IWWA Indore Centre and requested that the duration of such presentations be extended in the future. Information was also shared regarding upcoming field visits. After the question and answer session, Vice Chairman Er. R. K. Jain delivered the vote of thanks.
Indore centre had a Technical visit to Jash Engineering Plant on 30/07/2024, where members have seen the special Crest gate of Size 84' long and 14' height. It has been made for USA to control the flood, and to divert STP water. Members have also seen the very big size screens and Air vessels, it's technology. It was really Great experience.
IWWA Indore centre has started monthly lecture meeting for this year.... The first lecture meeting held today on 30/04/2024 at meeting hall of O/O, Chief Engineer, PHE department, ,where the young Engineers from PHE,Deptt, M.P. UDC, Jal Nigam, Indore Municipal corporation, Consultants and Contractors had participated. Er. P. C. Jain, ( Retd.S.E, and Past DPDT, MP UDC, has talked about, Precautionary measures for Ongoing projects of W/S and WW Systems. He has elaborately explained since assessment of demand, design, planning, selection of site, materials etc. Further he also told about planning to execute the project, ... implications of I S Standards, CPHEEO manuals, testing, checking of Documents, precautions for recording measurements, trial run, dry run testing, bills preparation....etc... Retd EnC, and Ex. Chairman of M.P. PCB, Mr. V. K. Jain saheb told the Engineers, to take necessary notes during execution time to time,. All participants have appreciated full heartedly ,today's lecture, They ( who were not became the LM, of IWWA yet , they assured that, they will be members within this fortnight... Er. Komal Prasad announced for next site visit plan in May for two plants... shortly....Er. N. M. Quraishi has given the vote of thanks, with remarks that during their initial service time, no such training or seminars were conducted, neither there were such advanced technology, He told the new Engineers, that you are so lucky, that you are getting such benefits from beginning. The field Engineers of Indore Municipal corporation, PHE,Jal Jivan Mission,Jal Nigam, have discussed the current problems,what they are facing, Dr. Dahasasra, answered each and every points in simple words and practical examples. Malviya, PHE Deptt, Mr. Vijay Charhate ( Director, YFW IWWA) Mr. Jayant Mule, Consultant and Contractor, Mr. Noor Mohd. Quraishi,( Chairman, IWWA, Indore centre) had shared their veiws on responsibilities of PHE Engineers, alongwith the need of awareness in public regarding conservation, recharging of Rain water , precautions during recharging...etc...vote of thanks given by Mr. A.S. Jain sir and Er. Ajay Shrivastav sir.... About the theme of the WWD theme,and importance of it, was presented by Dr. R. K. Shrivastav Sir( Hon.Jt. Secretary) , then Er. Sudhir Saxena ( Ex. Engineer in Chief, PHE Deptt, Past President of IWWA, and Past Chairman IWWA Indore) has spoken with slide show the need of the theme, importance of vision , since Ramayan era, with the very short stories ( like Panchtantra) he has narrated very nicely.... further he forced to think, how a small self contribution of everyone can change a lot. He himself given the practices adopted by him and family members , to start with to achieve the goal of 2030... During Q&A, many members asked their queries,which were well replied by him. Er. V. S. Solanki (Chief Engineer PHE Indore) has spoken about the problems of Rural areas, and the simplified solutions adopted by the Department, which are being well adopted by public .... with the hands of Er.
