World Environment Day Celebration 2026

The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Centre of the Indian Water Works Association (IWWA), in association with the IWWA Mumbai Centre and Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (MITCSN), celebrated World Environment Day on 5 June 2026 at the MITCSN Campus. The programme was graced by Er. Manisha Palande, President, IWWA, and Dr. Munish Sharma, Director General, MITCSN, along with IWWA members, faculty members, students, and environmental enthusiasts. A special expert lecture on the theme “Nature for Climate for Our Future” was delivered by Dr. Nitin Mukadam. The session highlighted the importance of nature-based solutions for climate change mitigation, sustainable development, environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, and water resource management. The lecture was followed by an interactive discussion that encouraged participants to share ideas and perspectives on environmental responsibility and climate action. The programme also included the distribution of environmental awareness material and meaningful interactions among students, faculty members, and IWWA members. Approximately 40–50 participants attended the event and expressed their commitment to promoting sustainable environmental practices and building a greener future. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective pledge to support environmental stewardship through individual and community initiatives. Rainwater Harvesting Workshop on World Environment Day 2026

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, a Rainwater Harvesting Workshop and Awareness Session on Pre-Monsoon Guidelines and Best Practices was organized on 5 June 2026 at Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (MITCSN). The programme was jointly organized by the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Chapter, Indian Water Works Association (IWWA), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Centre, and MITCSN with the objective of promoting awareness on sustainable water management and water conservation practices. The technical session was delivered by Er. Nirav Saraiya, Director, Vihaan Waters & Enviro Solutions and member of the IWWA Mumbai team. He highlighted the importance of rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, stormwater management, and pre-monsoon maintenance practices for addressing water scarcity and enhancing water sustainability. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from professional plumbers, faculty members, and students. The interactive session provided practical insights into planning, designing, and maintaining rainwater harvesting systems for residential, institutional, and commercial buildings. The event successfully strengthened awareness about water conservation and encouraged participants to adopt sustainable water management practices in their communities and organizations. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective pledge to conserve water and protect the environment. Inauguration of the MIT Student Chapter under the IWWA Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) Centre

The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Centre successfully inaugurated the MIT Student Chapter of the Indian Water Works Association (IWWA) at MIT CSN on the occasion of World Environment Day 2025. As the Hon. Secretary of the IWWA Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Centre, it was a proud moment for me to witness the launch of a student-driven initiative dedicated to water sustainability, environmental awareness, and technical leadership. Key Learnings and Activities: Gained deep insights into the functioning of IWWA and its impact on India’s water sector Recognized the role of student chapters and youth forums in shaping policy and driving grassroots solutions Engaged in discussions on urban water management, climate challenges, and sustainable infrastructure Networked with experts and inspired students to actively participate in water-related practical projects Student Membership Certificates were awarded to encourage future participation. The IWWA Youth Forum Certificate was presented to our Director, Dr. Nilesh Patil, as a symbol of collaboration and commitment. The presence of dignitaries from the IWWA Mumbai and CSN Centres, all Civil Engineering faculty members, and the enthusiastic participation of students made the event truly memorable. Heartfelt thanks to all colleagues, students, and the IWWA team for their support and energy. Let us continue to learn, collaborate, and innovate—for water, for the environment, and for the future.
